The theatre was in a flux- so to speak- when I worked there, between artistic directors. Housing was not good (I lived close, not in the far housing) and there was just a general sense that no one really cared about the end product being excellent. It was fine. Would I work there again? Eh, prob not unless it was an absolute dream role and I could secure better housing.

The housing is not close by, so just be aware of that situation - location is pretty but isolated. The nominal "director" was barely involved in my production, instead offloading almost all the staging onto the music director - not sure that's kosher under SDC guidelines, since MD got no final authority, pay, or credit as a director, just did most of the work. Stage management was just chock full of inappropriate comments about the bodies of everyone in the room and just relished ways to make me uncomfortable with over-sexualized talk. It's tough to fully enjoy yourself when the people in charge don't seem to think the rules apply to them - how comfortable would you be speaking up under those circumstances if something goes wrong? Still - the show was great, the crew and designers were efficient and professional, and the audiences will love you.
