Six Flags Great America
- Performer, 1-3 years ago
This experience is largely what you make of it. The hourly pay is competitive and accumulates well throughout the season. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with some incredibly talented individuals, including performers and directors, which makes for an enjoyable and memorable season. However, there are notable challenges with the production team. For instance, the vocal director is also in the cast, which can create an imbalance of power within the organization. When issues arise, such as casting miscommunications, discrimination, or microaggressions, they are often met with a lack of accountability. Despite repeated concerns being raised, these issues are frequently overlooked. Additionally, the organization has been known to rehire employees with a history of problematic behavior, including body shaming, homophobia, and racism, even after these concerns have been explicitly brought to their attention. The quality of the productions is generally strong, but your overall experience will heavily depend on how you are treated during your time there. While my personal experiences have been mixed, this can still be a great place to start and offers a valuable opportunity to grow within the industry.
