Safety

You're probably on this page because you're a little worried about posting your review. I get it!

I hope this page bring you a little clarity on how we are protecting our reviewers. If there are other questions that pop up, please reach out on our Contact Page! We want to hear about and address them.

Why do I have to sign up to leave a review?

TLDR: The credibility of reviews would always be in question

You may be asking “if I want to post anonymously, why do I need to create an account?” I hear you! When we first launched, we tried this; but we quickly realized that by not tying reviews to specific users, we had no way of limiting users from posting multiple reviews for the same venue and unfairly skewing the data. We want to hear about all your experiences, but posting multiple reviews talking about your one experience simply to drive the rating up or down isn't what we stand for.

What information can be extracted from my username?

TLDR: No one can know anything about you from your username

We live in the age of social media where we are used to clicking on a someone's user name and being able to find out anything about them (I also saw that girl's hand in her story and went into detective mode to figure out who she was. We are the same). HOWEVER, for the purposes of this site, you can't do that. Clicking on a user name doesn't do anything or lead anywhere; no emails, no phone numbers, no profile pictures, nothing. We'll generate a generic user name for you when you sign up, but if you want to change it to “basejumper42” when in reality you spend your weekends drinking wine in sweats and reading romcoms, do it! None will be the wiser.

Please keep in mind, if you do change the user name we generate for you, and include personally identifiable information in your new user name, that risk is solely yours as you would now be voluntarily sharing that information in your user name. If you would like to avoid this, we would suggest not including your first or last names, any nicknames, birth dates, age, and/or any other identifiable information.

What information do you have about me?

We have to keep a little bit of info about you for authentication purposes, but it is in the backend data only.

For a full breakdown of the information we collect about you, and how we utilize that information, please read our Privacy Policy. Examples of some information we may collect from you include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Social Login ID

  • Social Login Name

  • Social Login Image

  • Social Login Email

  • Social Login Email Verified Indicator

Who can physically access my identity?

TLDR: Only the owner and software maintainer

This information can only be accessed by the platform administrators that are a part of Gigintel LLC. We are a small team, and are the only ones that have access to the backend data.
