Avoid internship program at all costs. Not worth the money. If you’re offered an equity contract, it’ll be the most wonderful experience you’ve ever had. But do not fall for the trap that is the internship program. Production Manager is abusive beyond all reason, not to mention horrible with money and driving the resources of the theatre into the ground. 200$ a week is NOT livable. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise. (edited)

Can’t say enough wonderful things about working here. Production process was very smooth. Great leadership, from AD to director to Company Manager to SM, felt supported from the moment I arrived until I left. Private apartment above the theatre. Would come back in a heartbeat.

I can't speak for the internships. However, for their actor contracts, this is the peak of regional theatre experience. The pay is good, the theatre is beautiful, the setting is professional, and the housing is the best I've ever had at a theatre. Every actor gets a private apartment, and the apartments are in the same building, which is in the heart of downtown. Overall, it was an incredible experience.

Let me preface this by saying that in the past few years almost all of their staff has turned over, and only the AD and the assistant AD are still there. My experience was mainly influenced and soured by my boss, the former education director. He was emotionally and verbally abusive towards his interns constantly, and I witnessed first hand how he treated students, which was… less than professional and frankly awful. I could go on and on but as he is no longer there, I won’t. What you should know, is that as much as we reported things to the AD, as much as he knew what was going on, he never did anything. Housing: if you get the equity guest artist housing above the theater, it’s great! Fully furnished studio apartments. It can sometimes get loud on the weekends but it’s worth it to be just above the theatre and in the heart of downtown Fort Myers, which is lovely, with a lot of nice restaurants and shops In walking distance.
