referring to educational touring company from more than a decade ago, so of course I'm old and things have changed but I'll share anyway: creative team was very supportive and kind but pay was too low. was able to get three EMC credits along with the four touring shows and ASM/assistant house manager/usher/box office credits with two department of education certified trainings under the state of NJ in my resume in less than ten months; so, it's definitely a decent first gig if you have support and are willing to work that long for basically minimum wage; great stamina building (often up at the crack of dawn, you set up and tear down in a van, take turns driving around 120+ different schools in the tristate area for over 10,000 kids over the course of your contract) pretty fulfilling work if you enjoy theatre for young audiences with a teaching artist element *edit: negotiate for parking to be included (that area of New Brunswick is tricky to get around, but I do know they ahem. new space now) and maybe a stipend or round trip tickets to NYC to be able to keep auditioning closer to the time the contract would be up) (edited)
