Mac-Haydn Theatre
- Creative Team, within last year
Being a first timer at the Mac-Haydn, I was a little skeptical about a theater in upstate NY, however it was one of the best experiences for me. The housing there is nice and all of your housemates are sweet. I have to give a shoutout to the MD at the time, Eric. Not only does he know exactly what he wants, he also is extremely kind and forgiving to the cast, band, and crew. The sound guy Sean is hilarious and a great hang. Overall, if you decide to work at the Mac-Haydn, you’re being welcomed into a family. I have so many new contacts and friends from that show. It’s a worthwhile experience, and I would go back in an instant. 10/10

My experience working for this theater was genuinely very positive! It's a small theater in upstate NY (about a half hour from Maine/Albany), and the surrounding town is very small and quaint. The staff and creative teams were all supportive and accommodating, and I felt pretty well taken care of as a performer. The rehearsal schedule is a bit rigorous at times, but the production team tried to be conscious with most of their scheduling. A company car was provided, as was housing. The housing is probably one of the rougher parts of the contract, just because it's outdated and the main actor houses do not have laundry on site (there was a laundromat in town but it was not great and ended up being pretty expensive). Most things in town were walking distance, and multiple cast members brought cars that helped get us around town. The shows we did had a good production value, and the community had positive responses to our performances. I really bonded with the people I worked this gig with, and I definitely would recommend the experience to other actors!
