The Artistic Director and director of my show was so unbelievably toxic to me and some (not all) of the cast. There was intimidation, humiliation tactics, gossiping with cast members she uses over and over who she also sought information from. Spies literally used throughout the backstage and dressing rooms…I kid you not. I could not believe how she spoke to the dance ensemble. She has created a little toxic place and it was miserable. I will never audition for them again.

This is the worst professional theatre experience I've had. The negativity that radiates from the artistic director basically infected the entire staff, from stage management to crew to actors. Everyone in that building is miserable. From what I've heard, people are quitting left and right and they're scrambling to find people to fill positions. The pay is low for non-union, although housing is provided and it's pretty nice. The production quality is average. Understudy rehearsal is scarce. We were "encouraged" not to call out of the show. If you really want the credit on your resume, be prepared to endure six weeks of being yelled at.
