they never cast enough ensemble or swings (and they treat them like absolute dog 💩) to understudy roles, so when the show is all “swinged out” they have no choice but to cancel the show. it probably happened around 10 times during my run. i was non-eq so my pay was… pocket change… to say the least lol. for the amount of rehearsals that i had plus 8 shows a week, my pay went towards getting there and back home. i know its hard to do anything about the location bc poor downtown sf has been going through it but damn do they need a new rehearsal space. that shoebox of a room is clearly meant for a small dance class and not a full production. other than that, the production value is awesome. theater is beautiful (although that balcony needs some work), and you will have butts in seats. The pay is pretty fair but you need local housing. They're a nice company with good production value. They're always doing their best to do meaningful works and treat their actors with respect, it was however a learning process and during my contract some odd mistakes and communications were made. That created some of drama and soured a bit of the experience. Overall it was a positive time and for the right show I would certainly like to work here again. (edited)
