I personally love the creative team and the cast. Everyone is extremely talented and easy to work with. I’ve worked many professional contracts and this has been my favorite regional theatre experience! A super quick rehearsal process but it all came together very well. The orchestra they hire is so insanely good, the set is gorgeous, the costumes are gorgeous. The pay could be better, but to be honest, as an equity member, the whole experience has been worth it to me. They pay for EVERYONE’S train tickets, though I decided to drive. It’s in a super convenient mall/shopping center and rehearses in the city. And there are only 3-4 shows a week. The schedule is SO easy w/ no double show days for this specific show. Marking is encouraged, they don’t push you to your limit constantly, we take very frequent breaks during rehearsals/tech. I’ve been treated very well and would absolutely come back to work here.

It’s not good. And it’s not even ok. It’s jank. Very jank.

Was treated appallingly by this company. Listened to the producer make fun who actors who auditioned for previous productions including fat shaming. Tech was such a mess they had to cancel rehearsals to allow the crew more time to work on set. Equity rules were not followed regarding costumes, laundry and recording. My complaints about various issues were ignored. One of the most humiliating jobs in my career.

I have worked there 2-3 times for different spans all starting similar ways doing scenic painting. Getting some sort of text or email with little information about pay, timeframes and what I was doing, inquiring if I could work. Something that was a LARGE learning curve is that they DON'T let you know that you must fill out your timesheets along with all of you information while you are on the premises. I have worked full days and was not informed on how to fill out paperwork to be paid, which would have lead to me not being paid. Which I find to be quite unsettling. The timesheets are found house right outside the door into the hallway. Every time I was never informed or reminded to fill out paperwork. The work there is fine and the designers I find to be quite nice. I wish there was more communication about the job information that gets you in the door. With all of this in mind, I do say yes, but understanding that I am truly in charge of myself while I am there and that its usually a mixed bag. Fine pay, my rate is 20-25 an hour, but know what you're getting yourself into and be firm about your needs.

I enjoyed almost every minute of my work at WPPAC. The Music Director/Producer is deeply committed to the success of every production, and the individual Artistic Directors for each project share that commitment. Our cast and production team were tremendously talented and hard-working, and we were all sad but satisfied at the end of our show.

I loved my time at WPPAC, but it's true that the pay is pitiful for non-union. I did like that I was able to keep working my day job in NYC once the show opened though, so it all did kind of work out financially. Idk if it has changed - but they really need to cover transportation costs for everyone. If they raise the pay a bit and cover transportation costs, that would be perfect. I loved the people and loved the production I did. (edited)

Such a mixed bag experience - would give 3.5 review if I could. The quality of productions and the people you get to work with are phenomenal. However, I second the concerns over treatment of the performers. Everyone is friendly enough when things are going well, but on more than one occasion I've seen performers treated as entirely expendable and disrespected. If you want to be in a great show, experience a great cast, do a fun show you can be proud of, and you can afford it (non-union pay is awful and the transportation costs/time do add up) certainly worth a try, just remember to take care of yourself because if anything goes wrong they might not.

my experience for them was decent. Their communication in hiring me beforehand was abysmal and very disrespectful. Their pay was abysmal considering you must commute on your own dime. The production value was very good and the team were nice and accommodating enough. I'd say it could be worth it for the right role, but is a bit of a sacrifice.

I loved my time with WPPAC! It's got a family vibe and puts on wonderful productions. Made so many great friends! Plus, working in their location is CLUTCH during tech week (spoiler alert: it's in a mall and there's a grocery store and target right underneath).

great experience would 100% go back! Wonderful production, excellent teams. Travel seems to now be covered according to the recent casting notice I came across, so that seems to be solved. I worked there both non-equity and AEA, both times it was a great experience regardless of union status personally, and professionally. Loved the 4 show weeks which allowed me to keep my other gigs/jobs and also maintain a personal life outside of work. Made lots of connections and great friends and was seen by many industry folks that booked me more work. It was also refreshing to work in a place where everyone was there to make the show the best they could vs acting like they were just there to collect a check. When we needed something we asked, and if it was possible and a reasonable ask, it was taken care of. We had a few divas in our cast (who we all quickly saw their true colors....) that liked to start trouble when they didn't get the answer(s) they wanted and took that as a bad thing vs not being able to accept that they did not get their way. As they say "you can't always get what you want". I wouldn't be surprised if a few of these negative reviews are from those indviudals... Overall, had a good time and would go back!

WPPAC is a pretty good gig! Overall, very very professional experience. The production value is really top-notch. The music director is really great and brings in top NYC musicians, so the orchestra itself is a huge benefit of working here. Because it is so close to the city, you'll get great talent, but also great industry people to come see the show like agents, music directors, directors, playwrights, casting directors, other actors, etc. I had a great time with the cast and the creative team, no complaints. I never had any safety issues and my cast got along very well. The ONLY negative is that they do not pay for transportation. Probably 50-75% of the contracts here are non-union, so you definitely lose money on this contract due to train tickets. That being said, the commute isn't terrible, it just costs $$$. I think it's a great theatre (and worth the connections tbh), but keep $ in mind for yourself.

The production quality is pretty phenomenal. But, the way they treated the actors when I was there was truly, truly appalling. It was lovely at first but unfortunately there were several instances where the cast and crew were put at risk, as well as a gossipy environment that became very toxic. I can't in good conscience recommend working here.

Loved my time there! Production quality is BROADWAY! Staff is so nice. You do have to pay for your own transportation BUT the connections I made there have booked me other jobs. I’d 100% go back to work there.

Enjoyed my experience with them! It was a safe and inclusive environment with working professionals from NYC and I loved working close to home. We did provide a lot of our own costume pieces, footwear, etc. Rehearsal in NYC then move to the theater for tech and runs, transportation stipend was not provided. I would definitely go back, they hire great people on and off stage and the show quality is high.

I enjoyed my time here and would go back. I felt it had great production quality and the staff on the show and company was extremly hard working. We rehearsed for 2 weeks in NYC and then did a week of tech at the space. Could have maybe used an extra hand backstage at times but nothing out of the ordinary that I haven't felt on other contracts of a similar size. In the end, I felt respected and thought it was a nice venue to do some great work close to home on a short contract.

The production quality is good. The treatment of actors is another question. Beside having to pay for your own transportation on the MetroNorth the entire contract, the artistic director is more concerned with the musicians and how the show looks than the well being of the actors onstage. He’ll do anything to cut costs including forcing actors to rehearse their replacements, be dressers backstage and prepare their own clothes because there is no real wardrobe team, all while gossiping about other actors working. You will lose money working here. If you are in the financial position to do so, you’ll get some nice production photos.
