I had a really wonderful summer here!!! Woodstock is absolutely beautiful and it is such a tight-knit community. Its honestly a pretty wide mix of people- some are on their first-ever contract and others are more experienced and/or out of school. The housing is pretty good. Your room is about the size of a dorm and you share with one other person. The food was good too. You get 3 meals a day 5 days a week (No meals provided Monday on day off). There are definitely a lot of educational aspects to the summer. You have dance class every morning and it's honestly really nice to not pay for class no matter how advanced or not it may be for you. It's a true summer stock- you are in the woods, working nonstop, and exhausted, but it's also incredibly fun and rewarding. Most shows have guest directors, allowing you to make connections. The team at Woodstock makes everything feel like home away from home. Yeah, the pay is not great, but it is good experience/connections. You won't leave the summer making a ton of money, but you also don't have to lose money. I would recommend bringing a car if you want to go to the gym, grocery store, or have a little more independence. The housing/ rehearsals (same location) are not within walking distance of anything. The theatre is in the heart of Woodstock and is super accessible. The town is adorable and has really great food.

I worked here as one of my first jobs out of college. As a preface, I want to be fair and say that perhaps they've improved their practices since I worked there. Onto the review: The pay was abysmal, yet expectations were sky high. Controlling, rude, and borderline abusive leadership. I remember a lot of body-shaming. We were often guilt-tripped into doing non-acting work (building/painting sets mostly). Respect did not go two ways. I trauma-bonded so hard with my cast (this is the only reason for the 2 star review instead of 1. They hired good, kind people). Unsafe sets were the norm, and we had injuries. Some due to unsafe set construction, and some due to ill-fitting shoes/costumes. We were often shamed for calling attention to these unsafe conditions. The outside directors/designers they hired were all great. As the review below mentioned, all food is provided, like a theatre summer camp (this is the only way we scraped by financially). Housing was ok, exactly like a summer camp. I only hope they've improved their practices in the years since I worked there. Accept the offer with caution.

I really enjoyed my time working here when I was a non-union actor. We did 4 shows during the summer season, and I came back for their Christmas show as well. From when I worked there, breakfast was supplied for the most part, and lunch was always supplied. There were also dance classes held in the mornings before rehearsals. I would recommend bringing a car if you can as the town is lovely, but you are not in walking distance of anything. One big con for me were the rooms are small and you do have to share with a roommate. It was one of the best summers I've spent working at a theater!
