TEXAS! The Outdoor Musical

As a first contract, it was amazing! Housing is provided which is great and the production team is amazing. Performing in a canyon was spectacular and definitely a once in a life time experience. It was hard to make a profit because the pay was mid and there was no kitchen in the dorms and we were only provided meals a few times once shows started, but other than that it was the perfect first summer contract I could have had. And the friends I made will last a lifetime.

This was my first contract and honestly I loved it. The canyon is beautiful, I got to do an opera and the Shakespeare, and while the rehearsals are hard work, once the show is up and running, most of your time is your own. The pay is pretty bad, and I wouldn’t go back because of that, but it was a good first professional performing job. (edited)

Worked one summer here, the pay really isn’t worth it if you’re trying to make a profit or if you’re not local to the area, which many performers are. The show is huge and full of spectacle, and there are opportunities for other smaller productions outside of the main show. If you’re still in college and close to Texas, it might be worth it. If not, there might better contracts out there. (edited)
