First off housing is wild! Kind of looks like a prison. It’s a big dormitory with double bunk bed rooms and a shared bathroom per floor. Bathrooms are nasty!! Smells and bugs in the toilet! The rehearsals and shows are run pretty smoothly. The biggest issue is they use this 2 star app called osha to determine if performers are “safe” to be outside for their shows. The app is not accurate or reliable and the performers safety is based off of it. If a show is cancelled for whatever reason they will make you clean other attractions in the park (ex haunted house).

I loved working here. This was my first theme park gig and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. The entertainment department is very well organized and the tech is typically pretty solid. Just some usual miscommunications at times that occur in all organizations. Our music director was amazing, our choreographer was stellar, and our director was very wonderful. The sets and costumes are top-notch, and if anything breaks, it will be fixed relatively quickly (depending on how hard it is). The costume department provides you with absolutely everything you’ll need - from hairpins to makeup mirrors to insoles for your dance shoes. Tech during shows is not always reliable, but they attempt to remedy this when possible. The shows and parades are your typical theme park thoroughfare and they have a good mix of locals and out of towners in their casts. They don’t typically house for summer and finding housing in Richmond is no easy feat. You make enough to afford rent, but it does take a chunk out of your earnings. They typically house for Halloween and Christmas and the company housing is very dorm-esque. There are cameras everywhere, one big communal bathroom, and a tiny kitchen that doesn’t always work. Most people either had one or no roommate and the rooms are 2 bunks and a desk, with some drawers to spare. Nothing was ever very clean here and they conduct random room checks for unauthorized items. The joy of performing here is that the community around Richmond loves the park so much. You’ll always have lots of families and some rather devoted online fans who will video you and post awesome pics of you (great for performer website!). The talent level here is typically pretty high and the park works to ensure all shows run smoothly. Everything has to be run through corporate, though, so things like show changes, performance quality, and staff conduct is overseen by many people. You’ll always have someone important walking into and out of your show on a typical day. You’ll also have to sit through several corporate training classes during your first month with the company. Rehearsals are at weird hours but the performance schedule is very regular. Overall, a great contract with talented people and some fun shows! (edited)
