Granbury Theatre Company

I had such a great experience with this company doing "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"! This theatre technically operates as a community theatre because they're casting calls are open to everyone, but it is still considered regional theatre. It is in Granbury, TX which is a cute lake town an hour from Dallas. They give a stipend that can range from $100-400 depending on experience and tj=he role. Rehearsals are only at night and on Saturday mornings so you can get a part time job to supplement pay. I worked at a winery in town while I was there. They also provide housing through host homes that are a walk or bike ride to the opera house. Housing is extremely nice and mine was on the lake. I came all the way from Pittsburgh and they welcomed me with open arms. The management team, directors, president, etc. are truly wonderful people and care about each and every person. I did not have any issues with mistreatment from cast, crew, or production members. They have such a great community and you are considered a company member for life. My only complaint is that I wish they paid actors more since tickets run about $35 a piece, but I believe they are trying to get more non-union performers to audition. Would highly recommend auditioning here if you have not done a lot of professional work yet!
