Have done a few shows here now and have absolutely loved every minute. Probably best nonunion pay I've ever had and they pay you weekly instead of waiting for closing night. Some housing available for out of town actors if they really need you, but preference goes to local actors. I haven't worked with the old creative team, but the new artistic directors are incredible and so so kind. One thing that is really weird though is that they frequently hire a few high schoolers; they're very talented, but it's a bit of a red flag that they seem to get hired because they don't get paid... Also makes backstage a bit uncomfortable having to change around minors.

I worked here in 2024 on several shows, some with the past creative team, some with the new creative team. Things were not being run correctly, but now they are. The new artistic directors, Alyssa and Alexandra, are amazing. They care deeply about the craft and want to make The Rep a safe space for performers to learn and create. They are a non-union theatre so obviously it is not the most luxe contract I’ve ever been on, but I really enjoyed my time there and would go back if invited. Bonus—Portsmouth is a very cute/spooky little town and really comes alive in the summer!

Only paid performers half of their contracted stipend from A Chorus Line in 2020 after they vocalized several times they would pay us. Many still waiting on payment to this day. Bad business practice.
