JWM: A Theatrical Company
- Performer, 1-3 years ago
I’ll start by saying this production company is meant to give free/low price access to theatre, so its intentions are pure. But after working with the Artistic Director (Also Music Director, Producer, Casting Director…MANY hats), I have come to the conclusion that it also a vanity project. The talent I worked with was great. The whole experience was just brought down by the AD’s disorganization. Rehearsals were not ran smoothly. Lots of show decisions were made on the spot, and the learning of music was rushed, even though all of these shows are concerts. He also is the only one behind the casting table, so odd decisions are always made. They make themselves out to be inclusive, yet most of their casts are basically white with a token minority or two. All in all, the AD is super unprofessional and has soured me from wanting to submit for future projects. Not the worst experience I’ve ever had, but with the talent involved, this company could do SO much better if they brought more people behind the table. (edited)
